me, standing at our back fence, looking at the back of our house
back of our house, the deck.... the deck only is on one side of the house. what should we do under the other window beside the deck? 
directly behind us is this paved, walking path and some nice trees. we are hoping this all stays in the future as the trees are really nice to have there! the white fence is our back fence.
another back view, rough grade looks to be done but still no certificate. i don't believe it's been surveyed yet but i haven't been home much so maybe they came when we were out? (this is me thinking optimistically) if you look closely, one yard is done, complete with sod. it's the only yard on the strip. as much as i'm jealous, i would not want to be first because i think it would get a bit wrecked as others get their fence posts, dirt, etc. ?
from the walking path, looking towards anthony henday. we received a letter stating that on the other side of these trees, just over the road there that used to be 156 street, it is zoned for "low rise apartments". i was really hoping it would stay open, but now i am just thankful it's not a high rise apartment building. but i still am sad that the land will be built on... it was nice being so open in behind us!
from the trees, looking towards our house. ours has the darkest black roof.... notice how little space between most of the houses and then a bigger space between the first 2 on the left? weird.....

I would just put a flower garden under the window of your house where the deck doesn't cover.
Also, your yard seems to be a decent size!
