purple

the past few days my emerson has been purple.... she gets purple lips, hands and feet.... the hands & feet are very cold to the touch, but it's weird... this just happens while she's dressed, house is warm, she's running around playing, etc.... i didn't really think much of it (she has always done this just not daily) until this week when i had a friend over who noticed it too. so i'm not just krazy i guess.... here's a pic, below...

another update!

so emerson finally recovered from the eye gunk and her chest sounds better.... after a huge pharmacy bill (we just lost our blue cross because kipp changed jobs grrrr) and 6 prescriptions for her?!!!! wow... poor girlie. anyway she seems to be on the mend.

another issue, her g-tube hole is leaking.... moreso when she is sick but still, the other day it was leaking her dinner/dessert and that just cannot be ok!!! i called her doctor, he said it's ok to leak, but not ok for her since her tube has been out for 6 months and it's still leaking. so.... some kids need surgery to close it, she must be one of them! (surprise, surprise... . she doesn't like to do anything normal LOL) so her ped has sent on the referral for the surgery... it's just a quick thing but still, one more thing....

next week emerson has another hearing test.... i don't know if it's so much for hearing or to check the fluid in her ears. if it's still there after 3 hearing tests, they may put tubes in.

good news though - emmy is talking a bit more these days and actually able to communicate better with me. makes life a lot less frustrating for both of us!

ok gotta run.... kids are all doing ok today, however this past week was a week of stomach flu.... right up until last night. ew!!!! i had to run to shopper's for gravol for them, and pedialite... $50 later?!!! sheesh these kids are expensive.... why didn't anyone warn me?? haha!!

hmmm.....

so..... this is long but please read and share your thoughts...

i took the kids today to a "pre-competative talent assessment" at their gym club, so i could see which level they should be in, as registration is coming up. i was hoping hallie would be able to move up to pre-competative.... however they just suggested she go to the next "rec" level which is 1.5hrs/week, just one day. same as she is currently in.

now my son, on the other hand, shocked me. he is currently in a rec program 1 level below hallie, for 1 hour per week. he did the assessment today and i was told they want him to join their competative team, not even pre-comp, but competative?!!! wowza!! he only JUST turned 4yrs and he would be the youngest one by far, but i guess they were very impressed with him. he is a strong boy, well coordinated, etc. (started riding his 2-wheeler bike this summer at age 3.5yrs, scales our fridge at home, does the full set of monkey bars at the park at 3.5yrs, can do flips on the tramp, etc.)

so they handed me the package and the time commitment and cost is just a lot more than i expected! it's approx. 3x MORE money than his current rec program, and that's based on 6 hours per week. he would go 2 days per week, 3 hours each day 4:30-7:30pm. he normally goes to bed at 7pm but he would be ok later, just tired unless he napped that afternoon, which he somtimes does. the "team" he would be with would be there 3 days per week, but since he's only 4 they suggested 2 days.

i am thinking maybe 2 or 3 days, but only 2 hours per day IF he goes. 3 hours is just so long for a 4 yr old. unless he's having a blast.... so i just don't know....what are your thoughts? get in while he can, even though he is young? or just sign up for rec again, and revisit this competative idea when he's older?? i was thrilled when they said my son had talent, but after looking at the manual they gave me to read, it just seems like a lot of time for him at such a young age, and time commitment for me too, not to mention money....aaaahhhhhhhh !!!! thoughts?!?!? **want to add that it's not a major time commitment for me since i can drop him off/pick him up, i'm not required to stay there although i would to begin with...

my mom thinks it's insane that i'm even considering it. i think i'll go one day without kids and watch the team he'd be with, see the coach, see what they do for 3 hours, etc. and go from there.... i just don't know?!!

sick again

my house is sick again... 2nd time having colds this fall. emerson's is quite bad, and today she also somehow got pink eye in both eyes. kai is complaining too, i think he's getting it as well... fun fun!

i've been busy with christmas photo sessions all weekend! i have loved doing them though! so fun and so great working from home! the sessions are quick and the editing afterwards is minimal since it's only 1-3 pics for everyone to choose from!

the template is giving me a headache but i hope to have that sorted out asap!
otherwise not much is new here... just sick and working and... that's all for now!
