busy weekend!

our weekends lately have been lacking in family time... i find that i often take the kids out and kipp has been at home for open houses or whatever else.... sometimes we have bday parties and kipp doesn't overly like joining us at those ;) anyway -- this weekend we decided to spend some time together, finally!

saturday didn't go as planned... we had planned to get our christmas tree and decorate the house for christmas. that didn't happen. instead, i took the kids to my parents' this morning for brunch with my cousins and their kids. (visiting from calgary) kipp stayed home because there was a "big soccer game" on. ha!

then i took the kids to toys R us to get a quick bday gift, some soothers for emmy (because i keep losing them everywhere we go!), and a sippy cup to replace hallie's lost one. what a mistake! the quick trip was not so quick. it was insanely busy! the parking lot, the store, the tills, the exiting the parking lot -- all took forever! note to self: don't go there on a weekend day until AFTER christmas.

then we proceeded on to a little friend's birthday party. my friend, susie, from high school - her little girl turned 1! it was a great little party and i'm so happy we went to help celebrate! on the way there, we got stuck on a hill going downtown because there was an accident at the bottom. this delayed us by 25 minutes! it was a looooooooooong 25 minutes with a hungry, tired, baby in the van. ugh!!

so we got the party very late. we weren't planning on staying long to begin with because we still had to buy the tree, etc. have our family afternoon. that didn't happen. the kids were having so much fun, and i was having fun catching up with susie, jen, and tarah -- we didn't leave until 4pm! yikes! it was great though!

on the way home, i stopped at sears, looking for a tree they had advertised for $49. i dragged the kids into the store, even though 2 out of 3 of them were sleeping when we got there.... and this tree didn't exist. no such item. false advertising?!?? i was not pleased. so we left tree-less. the rest of the trees were $200+ and that is just krazy to me!

sooooooooooooooooooo we went home, squeezed in some daddy-kid time, and that was the end of our "family day".

TOMORROW, however, will be a family day! finally! we're going to get the stinkin' tree, then hopefully do some best buy shopping (kipp has been eyeing up a new tv for the new house, and there happens to be a great deal on some stuff right now), and then do some ikea window shopping for things for the new house (table, bed, etc.) and some yummy ikea lunch too!

then i'm going to my parents' with the kids, to meet some friends, and make more gingerbread houses. (this will be round 3 of houses for the kids -- 3 more to go after this) then home for a family pizza supper and family play time.

maybe next weekend will be less busy -- nope -- because uncle derek is coming to visit!!! WOO HOO we can't wait!!

an emmy-daddy moment! aw!
i think this is the hugest smile i've ever got out of emerson! and wow -- she is still drooling an insane amount. is this normal???? i think she is still having trouble swallowing her own drool.... hopefully she gets a hold of that concept before she is .... grown up LOL ;)
